We’ve used light puff pastry and reduced fat Cheddar cheese to keep these Cheese and Pickle Twists at only 41 calories per twist. We love using light puff pastry as it’s just as good as the full fat version, such as our Pigs in Blankets in Puff Pastry
Once you’ve mastered the ‘twisting’ method, you can be as creative as you like with the fillings. Why not try a festive combination of Stilton and cranberry sauce? Don’t forget our Pizza Twists for a tasty Italian-inspired version!
For a sweet addition to the buffet table, full of wintery flavours, pop a few Spiced Christmas Biscuits in the mix:

What diets are these Cheese and Pickle Twists suitable for?
Cheese and Pickle Twists can be enjoyed on vegetarian diets.
It can be made suitable for gluten free diets, as long as you substitute the ready rolled light puff pastry for suitable gluten free alternatives. You can usually find this in the same chilled aisle or in the ‘free from’ section at the supermarket.
If you’re cooking for people with allergies, be extra careful when checking ingredients and preparing food!
Do you need any special ingredients to make Cheese and Pickle Twists?
You’ll need ready rolled light puff pastry which you can find in the chilled aisle at the supermarket. This makes these twists so much easier than making your own pastry and there’s less washing up afterwards!
You’ll also need a jar of sweet pickle or chutney, and the smoother varieties work best.
When a recipe calls for grated cheese, we use a fine grater. This is because it always feels like you get so much more, and it feels like it goes much further than a traditional grater. You can use one for cheese, chocolate and even zesting fruit.
