These are all dishes under 400 calories, ideal for when you’re after a lighter bite (just like the category name suggests!), and they fit with diet plans like Weight Watchers if you’re calorie counting.

As a guide, an average man needs around 2,500kcal (10,500kJ) a day to maintain a healthy body weight. For an average woman, that figure is around 2,000kcal (8,400kJ) a day. Obviously, if your goal is to lose weight, then you might want to adjust these slightly. You can read more about these recommendations on the NHS website.

How do you know when this Chicken Shawarma is cooked?

You’ll know your Chicken Shawarma is cooked when the meat is cooked through, with no signs of pinkness, and the juices run clear. This should take around 8-10 minutes in your frying pan.

As per UK food safety guidelines, always cook meat until it reaches 75ºC and stays at that temperature for at least two minutes. This is to keep you and whoever it is you’re cooking for safe.

How long can you keep Chicken Shawarma in the fridge?

We recommend eating this Chicken Shawarma immediately, otherwise you may find that the wrap goes soggy! If you’d rather make the filling ahead of time, this can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days or so.

Can I freeze Chicken Shawarma?

No, we do not recommend freezing this recipe.

How do I reheat Chicken Shawarma?

From chilled: You can pop the chicken in the microwave for around 4-7 minutes, until piping hot.

Hi can I cook the chicken in a ninja 15 in 1?

Reply

    HollyThursday 29th September 2022

Hey Tina, I’ve just had a look at the the Ninja 15 in 1 functions online and I’d probably suggest the air-fryer function is best for cooking the chicken strips. Hope that helps!

Hi Can I use a griddle pan to cook the chicken?

Kind Regards Sharon

Hi Sharon, yes a griddle pan would work great to cook the chicken. Ensure the chicken is cooked through, the juices should run clear and there should be no signs of pinkness. Hope that helps!
