They’re ridiculously quick and easy to make, with only 10 minutes cooking time – they’re the ultimate fakeaway burgers.
A surefire hit with the whole family, they are also suitable for freezing. The tikka seasoning mix gives the burgers an unmistakable flavour and you can experiment with quantities of paprika and garam masala depending on your preference!
These burgers can be paired with our delicious Coleslaw, Homemade Oven Chips or Salt and Pepper Chips.

Part of the reason these Tikka Turkey Burgers are so quick and easy is because of how we cooked them.
Tefal kindly sent us an OptiGrill, so we’ve been putting our #GrillSkills to the test, and in the process came up with these Tikka Turkey Burgers!
We cooked these burgers on our Tefal OptiGrill, which senses how thick the meat is, and cooks it to your liking automatically. How amazing is that?! It much easier to grill burgers, steaks, and chicken!
It’s nice to not have to worry about ruining a really expensive steak, or undercooking things like burgers. Especially ones made from poultry mince.
You have to be very careful, and make sure they’re cooked through, especially if you have children.
The Tefal Optigrill is also handy to use when you fancy grilled food, but don’t fancy getting the BBQ out. With the heatwave we’ve we’ve just experienced, it’s even too hot to BBQ outside!
The bonus is that the Optigrill is ridiculously easy to clean. The plates come off, and are dishwasher safe.

How many calories are in these Tikka Turkey Burgers?
There are 320 calories per portion in this Tikka Turkey Burgers, which means it falls into our Everyday Light category.
These Tikka Turkey Burgers are perfect if you’re following a calorie controlled diet and fits well with any one of the major diet plans such as Weight Watchers.
As a guide, an average man needs around 2,500kcal (10,500kJ) a day to maintain a healthy body weight. For an average woman, that figure is around 2,000kcal (8,400kJ) a day. To make the tikka seasoning
Step 1
First, make the tikka seasoning (if you don’t have any made up already).
Step 2
Mix all the ingredients together well.
Step 3
Store in an airtight jar until ready to use.
To make the burgers
Step 1
In a large bowl, mix the turkey mince with all the other burger ingredients (not the low calorie cooking spray, rocket, tomatoes and rolls).
Step 2
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form them into burger shapes. You can use a burger press for this.
Step 3
Put the burgers on a plate, cover and refrigerate for a short time so they firm up slightly.
Step 4
Meanwhile, make the raita – see below.
Step 5
When you’ve made the raita, turn on the OptiGrill and select the burger setting, then press OK.
Step 6
Allow the OptiGrill to preheat. When it’s ready the indicator light will stop flashing and you will hear a beep.
Step 7
Spray the burgers on both sides with low calorie cooking spray, then cook them on the Optigrill until the indicator light turns red.
Step 8
While the burgers are cooking, slice the buns in half and arrange the rocket on the bottom followed by the sliced tomato.
Step 9
Remove the cooked burgers, place them on the rocket and tomatoes, then spoon some of the raita on top of the burgers. Place the top of the roll on the burger and serve.
To make the raita
Step 1
Cut the piece of cucumber in half lengthways, scoop out the seeds and finely chop the flesh. Place it in a bowl.
Step 2
Finely chop the fresh mint leaves and add to the bowl with the cucumber.
Step 3
Stir in the yogurt and season to taste with the salt. Set the raita aside in the refrigerator.
What could I serve with these Tikka Turkey Burgers?
How do you know when Tikka Turkey Burgers are cooked?
The turkey should turn a grey / white colour and will begin to brown slightly.
Standard advice here in the UK is to cook food until it has reached 70°C and stayed at that temperature for 2 minutes. This is to keep your family safe.
How long can you keep Tikka Turkey Burgers in the fridge?
Once you’ve put it out, ideally you should eat it within 4 hours.
If you allow any leftovers to cool, make sure to refrigerate in a container with a lid and chill. You can keep leftovers of Tikka Turkey Burgers in the fridge for approximately 3 days or so.
Can I freeze Tikka Turkey Burgers?
Yes you can! This recipe can be frozen, but please remember to do the following;
- Freeze it as soon as it is cold enough.
- Use a container or bag that is suitable for freezing.
Don’t forget to add a label with what it is, and on what date you put it in the freezer!
How do I reheat Tikka Turkey Burgers?
From chilled: Place in a microwave proof container with loosely fitting lid and heat for 4-7 minutes until piping hot.
From frozen: Allow to defrost, and heat covered in the microwave for 3-5 minutes then stir. Cook for a further 5-7 minutes until piping hot.

Is the protein correct in one of these burgers? There is 25-30g protein in 100g turkey mince.

Hi Jo, yes spray a frying play with low calorie cooking spray and set on a medium heat frying the burgers until cooked through. Hope that helps!
