Here’s our rundown of this fortnight’s selection, plus a little inspiration for how you could use each ingredient:
Baby plum tomatoes – 18 calories per 100g
Sweet and juicy, baby plum tomatoes are always handy to have in the house.
Whether you chop them up into a salad or roast them to serve with chicken or fish, they’re low in calories and full of flavour.
They work especially well in pasta dishes like this Black Pepper and Parmesan Spaghetti with Garlic and Thyme Tomatoes.
Cooked in balsamic vinegar, they soak up all the fragrant, garlicky flavours, adding sweetness to complement the salty parmesan.
Mini apples – 53 calories per 100g
The perfect little snack, these mini apples are sweet, crunchy and the perfect size to pop into lunch boxes and picnic bags.
With all the flavour of the full size version, they’re especially great for kids.
Chop them up and enjoy with a spoonful of peanut butter, or add a few slices on top of your morning oats.
They’re perfect for desserts too – why not have a go at these super easy Apple Strudels?
Grapes snack pack – 67 calories per 100g
We love to snack on grapes, and these come in a handy snack pack!
Low in calories, grapes are really handy to have in the house when you fancy something sweet.
Have you ever tried frozen grapes? Pop a few in the freezer and eat them frozen instead of an ice lolly – it sounds odd but it works so well!
Or how about chopping them into a salad like this Very Green Zingy Kale Salad?
Baby cucumbers – 14 calories per 100g
A salad essential, these baby cucumbers are great for snacking too!
Super nutritious but low in calories, you can nibble on a few if you get peckish between meals.
Try them chopped into a salad or enjoy them with your favourite dip – they’re perfect for scooping up hummus or tzatziki.
We think they’d go great with this Spinach and Pesto Dip. Yum!
Mini pears – 42 calories per 100g
Pears can often get overlooked but they’re sweet, juicy and so delicious.
These mini versions are great for packing up and snacking on throughout the day, instead of reaching for high calorie, sugary treats.
You can use pears almost anywhere you’d use apples to switch up the flavour a little.
They pair especially well with ginger, just like in this Pear and Ginger Crumble.
Mini bananas – 89 calories per 100g
When you’re busy and on the go, bananas are so handy.
They’re a great addition to your breakfast and equally great when you need something to keep you going between meals.
Add some chopped banana to porridge, pancakes or waffles, or use these to make some of your favourite desserts.
Who fancies Banana Cream Pudding? It tastes so indulgent but it’s just 236 calories.
