There is no calorie laden, deep-fried batter involved here! We’ve made these Banana Fritters using nifty swaps and low calorie cooking spray, so that you can still get your fix even if you’re on a diet plan.

Crispy on the outside with a super sweet, gooey centre, you won’t believe they’re slimming friendly! Have some bananas handy that are going a little brown? Don’t throw them! Bananas with brown, spotty skins are perfect for this recipe. They’ll add even more sweetness to your banana filling.

Make sure you dust them with a sprinkling of icing sugar to complete the flavours! Why not try a drizzle of honey or maple syrup too? From ice cream and low fat yoghurt to melted chocolate, these are delish with a variety of indulgent accompaniments.

Spray a frying pan with low calorie cooking spray, set on a low-medium heat and allow the pan to heat up.

Dip the banana pieces into the batter and add to the pan. Depending on the size of your pan it might be best to cook the banana in batches.

Fry the bananas for 2 minutes turning every so often to brown on all sides.

  • 50 ml skimmed milk
  • 1 medium egg
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp icing sugar
