Beef Kofta Kebabs
There’s no need to order from a takeaway with our Beef Kofta Kebabs at home! We came up with these when we were rustling up a fakeaway doner kebab and we can promise…they are lush! We’ve swirled veg, herbs and spices into our reduced-fat minced beef mixture to keep things nice and light. Serve them with salad and a yoghurt dip for a proper feast!

We absolutely love a takeaway – that’s no secret! Our slimming-friendly version of a Beef Kofta Kebab has all of the flavour of the takeaway dish, without all of the extra calories you’d expect.
We’ve used our Big Green Egg BBQ to cook these Beef Kofta Kebabs because we think that nothing quite beats the smell of them cooking on hot coals. All those herbs and spices heating up, the sizzle, the spit of the coal… Yum! You could also cook these on a gas BBQ, but we just like that smokey-ness that you get with a charcoal BBQ.
It doesn’t have to be summertime for you to enjoy these Beef Kofta Kebabs! You can always cook them in the oven or even a griddle pan if you prefer so that you can enjoy them all year round. Serve with a beautiful fresh salad and a yoghurt dip!

Add the egg and mix well to combine.
Step 3
Take a small handful of the mixture and form into a sausage shape.

When it says per portion does it mean 1 kofta? Trying to find low calorie foods for my partner but he’s only allowed 200 calories for a meal
HollyThursday 8th April 2021
Hey Maryanne, yes so the nutritional information for this recipe is per kofta kebab. If you look on the recipe tab you will find our recipe finder tool you can then filter recipes by dietary requirement, ease of cooking or calories, hope that helps!

My partner is allergic to egg, is the egg necessary/what could I use to bind them together instead?
LisaThursday 4th February 2021
Hi Emma
You could leave the egg out, although it might be a bit dryer and more difficult to mould. Alternatively, there are vegan egg replacers, or you could soak a few breadcrumbs in a little milk, and then mix that into the mince. We’ve not tried these methods with this particular recipe, so can’t guarantee the results. Hope this has given you some ideas!

The flavour on these were great, just a little dry… any advice on how to maybe get them a little moister…
SharonMonday 24th August 2020
Hi John, thanks for your question. If you found the Beef Kofta Kebabs a little dry, you could try cooking them for a slightly shorter cooking time. You could also try making each one a little bit bigger so there is more chance of them staying moist. Just make sure that they’re properly cooked through if you try these suggestions. Thanks for getting in touch and hope this helps.

Shop bought minced lamb is much higher in fat (usually around 20%!)
I use lamb leg steaks, trimmed of all visible fat and roughly mince it in a food processor ☺️
A good local butcher will bone, trim and mince a lamb leg for you x
Kelly-anneFriday 8th May 2020
Sainsbury’s do a lower fat lamb mine it’s expensive but half the fat

Thanks for the suggestion Kelly-Anne!
