Hints & Tips

Below we added some of our communities most common hints and tips. We hope you find them useful.

Lunchtime Magic
Can not believe how easy and quick this dish is to make. And the taste is unbelievable, I used 1 not 2 lemons had no paprika so used Smokey Cajun. Result 10/10 one of my new favourites!
Yummy midweek meal, I just added noodles.
Beautiful recipe but just a little tip, lay off the lemons as they are very overpowering in the dish. The rest goes together perfectly.
Use fresh prawns, just cook them a little longer. Bring a much better flavour to it.

What do people normally have these prawns with?

Reply

    SharonMonday 13th February 2023

Hi Jo, we would suggest serving Garlic Chilli Prawns with basmati rice, couscous or some crusty bread. Alternatively, you could serve them with either of these suggestions: Patatas Bravas or Spanish Rice

Would lemon and coriander couscous be a good accompaniment and use chilli flakes as a substitute?

Reply

    SharonMonday 19th December 2022

Hi Chris, this recipe is quite lemony so I would suggest avoiding more lemon flavours in the couscous. The recipe is packed with flavour so I would say plain couscous would be an ideal accompaniment, season with salt and freshly ground black pepper and maybe stir in some chopped flat leaf parsley if you like. You could use chilli flakes but you will probably only need a small pinch. Hope this helps!

Hey Lisa, We’ve used cooked prawns in this recipe which cannot be refrozen, so they can really only be eaten on the day they are made. Hope that helps!

Hmm I added too much lemon juice which was fine if you picked up a bit of chilli but after a while it was over powering.
If I had cooked along with looking at the pictures I would have realised it was too much. Hey ho, I’ll definitely be having this again as it was a perfect dish for a tapas style night

Hey Michelle, glad you enjoyed it and like you said if it’s not quite to your taste just add a little less lemon, hope that helps!

Hi, could I use raw prawns? They’d cook through no problem when added to the garlic and chilli. Thanks.

Hi Kayleigh, yes raw prawns would be fine.

this recipe can’t possibly be correct ingredient measurement. please double check. two whole lemmons??? I found it a bit lemony for my taste.

Hi, lemons can vary in size quite alot so the recipe has been updated to specify small lemons. Personal preference means some people prefer a more lemony flavour, but you could start off with one lemon, then taste and decide whether to add a second. Do hope this helps and thanks for getting in touch.

Hi, I have some prawns that I need using up, what could I have with these to make a main meal please? I was thinking pasta or rice but I think it would be too dry, thank you

KYLIE CAMPBELLWednesday 14th October 2020

I made this tonight but change prawns for chicken. But all I could taste was lemon.

Reply

    HollyThursday 15th October 2020

Hi Kylie, you could reduce the lemon juice by half if it’s not quite to your taste or remove the lemon zest and if the sauce looks a little dry add some water. Hope that helps!
