How can you make a cheeseburger better? Serve it in a toasty bagel thin of course! These Bagel Burgers are our new favourite recipe for fakeaway night. We’ve sandwiched homemade burger patties, bacon and cheese in-between a low-calorie bagel thin – and we didn’t forget about the burger sauce. Our homemade version beats any supermarket condiment!

Ready in just 16 minutes, there’s no way the drive through could be quicker (or tastier)! Load up your bagels with all your favourite burger toppings – we’ve gone for rocket, tomato and some pickled gherkins, but you can leave out anything you don’t like.

These are super filling on their own, or you can serve with a side of chips, fries or extra salad for a dinner that feels like such a treat.

What diets is this Bagel Burger suitable for?

You can make this Bagel Burger recipe gluten free if you swap the bagel thins for a gluten free alternative.

As always, take extra care when cooking for people with allergies and be sure to use different utensils, cookware and preparation areas.

How do you know when this Bagel Burger is cooked?

You’ll need to cook this Bagel Burger until the beef patties are cooked all the way through and the bacon is crispy. This should take around 6 minutes.

Here in the UK, the standard advice is to cook food until it has reached 70°C and maintained that temperature for 2 minutes. This is to keep you and your family safe!

How long can you keep this Bagel Burger in the fridge?

Once you’ve put it out, ideally you should eat it within 4 hours.

This recipe tastes best when it’s freshly made, although you could make the burger patties in advance and assemble it right before eating.

Can I freeze this Bagel Burger?

You can freeze the beef patties but we would recommend making everything else fresh, right before you want to serve it. This recipe is so quick to make and no trouble to rustle up on a busy day.

If you want to freeze the burger patties please remember to:

  • Freeze them before cooking or as soon as they are cold enough.
  • Use a container or bag that is suitable for freezing.

Don’t forget to add a label with what it is, and on what date you put it in the freezer!

How do I reheat Bagel Burger?

If you have frozen the beef patties before cooking, allow them to defrost overnight in the fridge and then cook as per step 2 of the recipe.

If you froze the cooked beef patties, follow the instructions below and then assemble the rest of the burger:

Defrost overnight in the fridge, then place in a microwavable container with a loosely fitting lid and heat for 4-7 minutes until piping hot.
