Do you need any special ingredients to make this Chocolate Brownies recipe?
These Chocolate Brownies are really simple to make, so don’t worry if you’re new to baking!
You’ll need some Choc Shot. It’s made by a company called Sweet Freedom, and you can get it in most supermarkets in the free from aisle or by the hot chocolate. It’s a low sugar chocolate sauce that’s almost a syrup. We always have a bottle in the cupboard, and it makes a great hot chocolate. You can even experiment with their other flavours like spiced orange or coconut!
It’s really important that you use self-raising flour and not plain flour as this helps with the rise. It’s also important to make sure you use baking powder and not baking soda.

These are pretty good just on their own, but if you fancied making them into a full dessert you could try serving with the following:
Whatever accompaniment you choose, don’t forget to account for the extra calories and/or other nutritional values.
How do you know when these Chocolate Brownies are cooked?
These Chocolate Brownies should be slightly risen, with a little gooeyness in the middle. They won’t be quite as sticky as a full calorie version but they’re still really tasty.
It’s best to under cook these brownies just a tiny bit, and leave them to cool in the tin. This carries on the cooking process so they’ll be just perfect!
Cook them for 16-17 minutes in the oven.
How long can you keep these Chocolate Brownies?
Store these brownies in an airtight tin. They will keep for 3-4 days.
If you find they’re a little stale, pop into the microwave for 10-20 seconds to freshen up.
Can I freeze Chocolate Brownies?
Yes you can! This recipe can be frozen, but please remember to do the following;
- Freeze it as soon as it is cold enough.
- Use a container or bag that is suitable for freezing.
Don’t forget to add a label with what it is, and on what date you put it in the freezer!

I was so desperate to make these brownies and I had all ingredients in the house apart from the fora light. I was too lazy to go out so I replaced the flora light with 0% fat Greek style yogurt – which in hind sight I think is actually pretty god to use as it gives the brownies a little bit of that “gooey brownie” texture while still be cooked all the way through – (I also only had 3 eggs left so I just used 3 instead of 4 eggs) and they turned out perfectly! I love this recipe! Thank you so much for sharing!

I’ve now tried this twice but I keep getting the texture of a cleaning sponge rather than light and fluffy. It’s more sense and spongy. Don’t now is this is just how it is or am I doing something wrong.

Hi thank you for the receipe I loved the look of these brownies and although I do not bake often I thought even I could try this, and feed my chocolate craving!! The texture was perfect I put it in the pre warmed oven at gas mark 3 in a 8”x 8” tin for 17 mins, took it out and was so sad. It had not raised as high as the ones in the pictures ( yes I definitely used self raising flour and baking powder) and it did not have the chocolately taste I had hoped for. Going to try it again using Claire’s advice sieving the flour, coco powder and baking powder with the electric whisk and using a smaller tin 5” x 5” and hopefully get the results everyone has mentioned. Wish me luck.

These gave me the perfect chocolaty treat over Easter! So, quick and easy to make and very light and tasty. I used Sweet Freedom Fruit Syrup as sweetener as I prefer to use that instead of a granulated sweetener. I took a few to my SW weigh in evening and they were a big hit! I’m making another batch tomorrow and will add some raspberries. Thanks PON for yet another wonderful, winning recipe!

Love these Brownies. I found that if you sieve your floor baking powder and coco and use an electric whisk they come out lovely and fluffy. Also definately use a 5inch x5 inch tin. Put up a photo on post and so far 362 likes????????????????????.
