This fruity crumble recipe is almost too good to save for Christmas! To make the fruity filling lovely and festive, we’ve thrown some juicy cranberries into the mix. 

We like to use dried cranberries, so you’ll see we’ve soaked them in freshly squeezed orange juice to plump them up. You’ll get loads more flavour this way, and add a glorious zinginess to the finished pudding. If you’ve got a bag of frozen cranberries in the freezer, you can always use those instead. 

Once the fruit is prepared and the crumble ingredients are all mixed together, it’s as simple as loading them up in your baking dish. Spoon on the crumble topping and get it into the oven for around 40 minutes. 

When it’s done, your oaty crumble will be gorgeous, golden and completely irresistible. Dig through it to get to the sweet, soft, syrupy fruit underneath!

There’s only one thing that can make it even better…a good glug of Custard poured all over the top!

Reserve 1 tbsp of sweetener and add the rest to a mixing bowl with the flour and oats. Add the reduced-fat spread and rub into the flour between your fingertips until it looks like breadcrumbs.

Peel the apples and remove the core. Cut into slices about the width of a £1 coin. Do the same with the pears. Add to an ovenproof dish. Pour in the orange juice and cranberries and sprinkle over the orange zest, reserved sweetener and cinnamon. Stir and spread out evenly in the dish.

Step 5

Top the fruit with the crumble mixture and roughly flatten out the surface. Pop into the oven for 35-40 minutes until the fruit is soft and the crumble has turned golden brown.

  • 65 g white granulated sweetener
  • 75 g reduced-fat spread
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
