Creamy Garlic Sprouts - Pinch of Nom Slimming Recipes

For the full list of ingredients and comprehensive instructions, please see the recipe card below. Before you scroll, there’s important stuff in the blurb!

This recipe proves that Brussels don’t have to be boring. We’ve given the controversial green vegetable a Nom makeover by turning them into an irresistible side dish. Our Creamy Garlic Sprouts have bags of flavour – and they’re more versatile than you might expect!

We’ve roasted the sprouts in the oven with some garlic, before coating them in a creamy (yet light!) sauce and topping with Parmesan cheese. Even though this turns out super creamy and cheesy, it’s still slimming friendly, with just 132 calories per serving.

Maybe you only serve sprouts at Christmas, but once you’ve tried these you’ll be bringing them out at every roast dinner!

What diets are these Creamy Garlic Sprouts suitable for?

These Creamy Garlic Sprouts can be enjoyed on a vegetarian diet, as long as you substitute the Parmesan cheese for a vegetarian hard cheese.

To make this recipe gluten free, make sure to use Henderson’s relish rather than Worcestershire sauce.

If you’re cooking for people with allergies, be extra careful when checking ingredients and preparing food!

How do you know when Creamy Garlic Sprouts are cooked?

Before adding the cream cheese you should cook the sprouts and the garlic until the outer leaves of the Brussels sprouts start to crisp.

Once you have added the creamy sauce and hard cheese, you’ll need to bake the Creamy Garlic Sprouts in the oven until the cheese is golden and melted.

To keep your family safe, the advice here in the UK is to cook food until it has reached 70°C and maintained that temperature for 2 minutes.

How long can you keep Creamy Garlic Sprouts in the fridge?

Once you’ve put this dish out, ideally you should eat it within 4 hours.

Any leftovers can be popped into an airtight container in the fridge for a couple of days, although the texture may be a little different when reheated.

We’d recommend making this recipe fresh each time where possible.

Can I freeze Creamy Garlic Sprouts?

Although this recipe is safe to freeze, the sprouts may get a little soggy when they’re reheated. This dish takes just half an hour to make from scratch, so we prefer to make it fresh so that it has the best texture and tastes delicious every time.

How do I reheat Creamy Garlic Sprouts?

Although we recommend making this dish fresh, if you do want to reheat leftovers, you can simply pop them in a microwavable container with a loosely fitting lid and heat for 4-7 minutes.
