These Grilled / BBQ Courgettes are the perfect side dish on any BBQ, and those not following a diet plan won’t even notice that they’re slimming friendly!

I cooked these on my new toy – the Char-Broil Gas2Coal BBQ.

I’m of the opinion that Charcoal is the only way when it comes to BBQ’s but the Char-Broil Gas2Coal BBQ is pretty special. It runs on gas and on charcoal.

So you get the best of both worlds, that lovely smokey flavour (without any of the effort that usually goes into starting a charcoal BBQ) and gas! Pretty neat, right?

Grilled / BBQ Courgettes | Slimming & Weight Watchers Friendly

The Char-Broil Gas2Coal BBQ makes cooking these Grilled / BBQ Courgettes so easy. The courgettes don’t stick to the grill, and you get the most fantastic grill marks. Not to mention a lovely smokey flavour from the charcoal too.

All you do with the charcoal is load up the tray of the BBQ with charcoal, light the BBQ with the gas, then 15 minutes later you’re ready to go.

The recipe at the bottom of this post makes plenty, and you can use it for soooo many things. It’s really nice on our Souvlaki Chicken Kebabs!

How to make Grilled / BBQ Courgettes

  • Mix all the dry ingredients together. Store the seasoning in an airtight jar until you are ready to use it.

  • Top and tail the courgettes then slice them lengthways down the middle.

  • Place them on a tray, flat side up, then spray them will some low calorie cooking spray. Sprinkle them with a few tablespoons of the seasoning.

  • Place the courgettes in a food bag and refrigerate for 30 minutes or so.

  • Place the courgettes on the BBQ, flat side down and grill for 5 – 10 minutes

  • When they have softened and they are nicely marked turn them over and turn the grill temperature down slightly (or move the courgettes to a cooler part of the grill)

  • Allow to cook for another 5 – 10 minutes or until the courgettes are cooked through.
