Does it have to have cheese in it? I don’t eat cheese, yoghurt or other dairy products like that.
Can it be done without it.

Reply

    HollyMonday 24th May 2021

Hey Denise, you could omit the spreadable cheese from this recipe it just wouldn’t be as creamy. Hope that helps!

Hi, I’ve just got my first ever pressure cooker – Ninja foodi – what would be the timings for the beef after using the saute function to sear? I’ll put the mash on after then grill it all in the same pot 😋 Thanks

Hi Sue, you could try substituting the cream cheese for a little Greek yogurt or there are soy and nut-based versions of cream cheese available in most supermarkets. Hope that helps!

This has become a staple meal in our house! I’ve done it a few times in the slow cooker (less liquid) and then just added mash as a side dish and it turns out just as well. It’s so tasty and easy to make!

Omg. Made this tonight and it was absolutely delicious. I didn’t have it as the pie, just added mashed potato and some of your bacon sprouts on the side. I also added a beef stockpot as extra liquid whilst cooking. Thank you once again for a fab recipe. I even got the equivalent of a `Hollywood handshake` from my husband which has never happened before in 30 years of marriage 😄 Can’t wait to receive your next book x

Is the sauce supposed to be thick or thin mines a little too thin

Reply

    HollyWednesday 26th August 2020

Hi Lynne, if the sauce looks a little thin try allowing it to reduce down a little longer on the hob. Hope that helps!

Could you cook the meat and veg part of this in the slow cooker?

Reply

    LisaSunday 9th August 2020

    Hi Chris!
Yes, you can cook it in a slow cooker. Around 5 hours on high or 7 on low. You might need to reduce the amount of stock you use or the sauce could be a little runny.

Reply

    SharonTuesday 4th August 2020

Hi Emmaline, if you scroll down to the bottom of the page you will find the recipe card. On the lefthand side of the recipe card you will find how many the recipe serves. In this case the recipe is for 4, but you can click on the arrows next to ‘servings’ to reduce or increase the servings and it will recalculate the quantities of ingredients needed. Do hope this helps.

Hi Vickie, thanks for getting in touch with us. The cheese in this recipe doesn’t have a strong flavour, it is mainly added to thicken the sauce and make it creamier. Hope this helps and please let us now how you get on.

Hi Angela. You can substitute Henderson’s Relish with Worcestershire sauce, but please check the label if you are cooking for anyone with allergies as most brand of Worcestershire sauce contain gluten and fish. Hope this helps

Hi, can I ask what is Hendersons Relush? Thank you

Reply

    LisaSaturday 23rd May 2020

Hi Carol. Henderson’s Relish is a Yorkshire staple! It is similar in taste to Worcestershire sauce, but unlike most Worcestershire sauce brands it is vegan and gluten free. You can substitute with the equivalent amount of Worcestershire sauce, providing you aren’t cooking for anyone with allergies. Hope this helps.
