I love Syn Free French Toast. Totally indulgent, sweet and, well, amazing! And it’s easier than you think to make a syn free version!! The perfect weekend breakfast.
This Syn Free French Toast is so easy to make, and it’s something that you can even give to the kids. They will adore it, I promise! It’s a really versatile recipe, for the whole family.
A point worth mentioning, if you want to keep this “Syn free” you’ll need to count the wholemeal as your Healthy Extra B. If not, then you need to count this at 6 syns.
If you have this on an SP day, remember to top with sweetened quark, and not yogurt, and don’t forget to add speed fruits, not free fruits like bananas.
Should I syn the sweetener?
As you will probably know Slimming World have brought out some new recommendations regarding the syn value of granulated sweeteners. Slimming World have confirmed what this change means.
Where there is 1 tbsp or more being used per serving they recommend members count 0.5 Syn per tbsp. If using smaller amounts, like a pinch or teaspoon, there’s no need to worry about Syns at all.
The recipe for this Syn Free French Toast uses 1 and a half tablespoons of sweetener and is divided into 2 portions. That’s 3 quarters of a tablespoon per portion, so there’s no need to add any syns on for the sweetener itself.

What other Syn Free French Toast flavours are there?
If you don’t like cinnamon, try it with;
- Ground ginger
- Mixed spice
- Choc Shot (remember to count the Syns!)
- Jam (remember to count the Syns!)
- Selection of berries
- Syn Free or Low Syn Syrups
You can try what ever you like really! I like to serve this French Toast with banana and some fat free fromage frais, with a drizzle of maple syrup, or agave syrup.
