For the full list of ingredients and comprehensive instructions, please see the recipe card below. Before you scroll, there’s important stuff in the blurb!

Hunters Chicken is a classic pub grub order, and we wanted to combine all of those cheesy, saucy barbecue flavours with the comfort of a warming pasta dish – so our Hunters Chicken Pasta Bake recipe was born!

It’s the ultimate comfort food because it feels super indulgent, when it isn’t. Thanks to some smart low calorie swaps and alternatives, you can enjoy a serving of this dish for just 284 calories per plate. Yep, really! We’ve bulked our recipe out with lots of tasty veggies and reduced fat cheese, to keep things way lighter than the pub alternative.

The seriously cheesy topping is the real winner. When it’s golden and bubbly and the edges look nice and crisp, your bake is yummy and ready to serve. No fighting over seconds allowed…

What diets is this Hunters Chicken Pasta Bake suitable for?

Hunters Chicken Pasta Bake can be enjoyed on gluten free diets, as long as you substitute the pasta for suitable alternatives.

Hey Catriona, yes you can make without the onion and garlic powder it will change the flavour but it will still be great without, hope that helps!

This dish is super yummy and quick. I used left over cooked chicken and I added extra BBQ seasoning for taste.

Would it still work if I left out the chopped tomatoes?

Reply

    SharonMonday 10th July 2023

Hi Lacee, tomatoes are one of the main ingredients in Hunters Chicken Pasta Bake so can’t be left out. You could try using passata which is smooth, sieved tomato rather than chopped tomatoes if that helps at all.

If to use passata instead of chopped tomatoes, would it still be the same quantity?

      LisaTuesday 12th September 2023

Hi Cody, yes, it would be 400g of passata

Can you use cajun spice instead with this?

    Cheryl LloydThursday 1st February 2024

We haven’t tried this recipe using Cajun spices but don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t work. It will change the taste though.

Can you do this in the slow cooker?

Reply

    SharonMonday 15th May 2023

Hi Selina, our Hunter’s Chicken Bake isn’t suitable for cooking in the slow cooker; it’s best suited to cooking on the hob and then in the oven. Hope you enjoy the recipe!
