Garlic Mushroom Biryani
A traditional biryani is a complex and time-consuming dish, involving soaking and cooking rice, veggies and meat separately before layering up. We don't always have the time to start from scratch, so we've simplified the process and created a delicious one-pot dish that couldn't be easier!

Can you cook this in the slow cooker ?

Hi Mel, our Garlic Mushroom Biryani isn’t suitable for cooking in a slow cooker. Thanks for your question.

Can you change the coconut milk to anything else I can’t find it near me?
SharonFriday 19th May 2023
Hi Alisha, if you can’t find coconut dairy-free milk alternative, you could try unsweetened almond milk instead. The flavour will be slightly different but should still be delicious! We haven’t tested this ourselves so can’t guarantee results, but think it should work fine. Hope you enjoy the recipe!

Can you freeze the garlic mushroom biryani
HollyTuesday 5th April 2022
Hey Denise, yes the Garlic Mushroom Biryani can be frozen. All of the recipes in our books that can be frozen have an F symbol at the top of the page, hope that helps!

is the timing on this recipe right? After 25 mins the rice was still hard, even after 45 mins it wasn’t thoroughly cooked. I ended up giving it a blitz in the pressure cooker and it came out lovely!

Hey Kelly, You need to make sure the stock is hot when it gets added and it’s really important that you don’t take the lid off the pan as as it will lose heat and your rice won’t cook in the specified time. Hope that helps!
