If you don't have garam masala, you can use regular curry powder instead.

Lovely meat free option
Gorgeous on its own but I decided to serve it with tandoori chicken. Clean plates all round
Not a mushroom lover
I'm not a mushroom lover so changed it to chicken instead and really enjoyed it.
Absolutely delicious!
This recipe at first glance looks like it has too many ingredients, but when you look properly, it's mainly spices that you probably already have. I only had to buy a few more bits. Definitely recommend this recipe!
So filling, perfect to batch cook!!
We cooked this with Beef Koftas for an all round fakeaway, enough left for lunch the next day too!
Serve with curry!
I also cooked the peanut butter chicken curry…. They went perfectly together!

Hi Mel, our Garlic Mushroom Biryani isn’t suitable for cooking in a slow cooker. Thanks for your question.

Can you change the coconut milk to anything else I can’t find it near me?

Hi Alisha, if you can’t find coconut dairy-free milk alternative, you could try unsweetened almond milk instead. The flavour will be slightly different but should still be delicious! We haven’t tested this ourselves so can’t guarantee results, but think it should work fine. Hope you enjoy the recipe!

Can you freeze the garlic mushroom biryani

Hey Denise, yes the Garlic Mushroom Biryani can be frozen. All of the recipes in our books that can be frozen have an F symbol at the top of the page, hope that helps!

is the timing on this recipe right? After 25 mins the rice was still hard, even after 45 mins it wasn’t thoroughly cooked. I ended up giving it a blitz in the pressure cooker and it came out lovely!

Hey Kelly, You need to make sure the stock is hot when it gets added and it’s really important that you don’t take the lid off the pan as as it will lose heat and your rice won’t cook in the specified time. Hope that helps!
