Breakfast in Bed
The best way to start the day? A hot cuppa and a homemade breakfast of course! Whether you’re treating them to a lazy Sunday, or you’ve planned a fun-filled day of activities, this Eggs Florentine is the perfect fuel.
Who can resist a toasty English muffin, topped with wilted spinach, a perfectly poached egg and a silky cheese sauce (so much lighter than a Hollandaise!). Cut into that runny yolk and scoop up a dreamy bite with all the flavours – now that’s what we call a proper breakfast!
If cheese is the way to his heart, try serving up these Mushroom and Rarebit Muffins. Topped with a cheesy mushroom mixture, they’re finished under the grill until you’ve got a golden brown rarebit that’s so much lighter than you’d expect (just 350 calories per serving!).
For anyone who likes spicy food, we recommend a cheeky drizzle of hot sauce on this one – that’ll wake you right up!
If you’re making brekkie for someone with a sweet tooth, you can’t go wrong with pancakes. Stack them up and throw on some fruit with a swirl of syrup or a dollop of yoghurt – they’re endlessly versatile.
These Bacon and Maple Blueberry Pancakes are the ultimate treat, with salty bacon and sweet maple syrup to make your mouth water! At 530 calories, this dish is perfect for special occasions, when you fancy pushing the boat out with something extra tasty.
Speaking of bacon, we can’t talk about Sunday breakfast without mentioning the humble bacon butty. If you want to make a fancier version to celebrate Father’s Day, this BLT Sandwich is just the ticket.
Loaded with crispy bacon and two eggs, it’s a protein-packed breakfast or brunch that’s hearty and filling enough for the hungriest man in your life. Grab his favourite mug and stick the kettle on just in time to serve up this champion sandwich!
Maybe your special someone is known for being a bit of a chocoholic? If that’s the case, make their breakfast dreams come true with our slimming-friendly Chocolate Waffles recipe. Crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, they taste far more indulgent than they really are.
We can’t resist loading them up with piles of fresh berries and a spoonful of creamy sweetened quark. They go down a treat every time!
You don’t need a waffle iron to make these – a silicone waffle mould will do the job nicely. They come in a range of sizes and shapes; this rectangular one is budget-friendly and easy to clean.
Dinners for Dad
While it’s always nice to go out for a slap up meal, cooking something special at home can save on time, money and calories too. Staying in doesn’t have to mean missing out on a delicious meal, instead it’s an opportunity to make Dad’s favourite dinner!
If he’s a big fan of pub grub, this Steak and Stilton Pie is guaranteed to put a smile on his face, right from the minute he smells it in the oven. It comes out golden brown, with a crunchy filo pastry topping and tender steak inside.
The Stilton cheese adds a creamy texture and an unmissable tanginess that makes this pie taste so much more decadent than it really is. Serve it with loads of fresh vegetables and a dollop of mashed potatoes for happy faces all round.
Why not spoil someone special by surprising them with a burger night? These Greek-inspired Beef and Feta Burgers are a welcome change from a regular cheeseburger, and they’re seriously juicy and satisfying.
With onion, garlic and olives mixed into the patties, these burgers build up levels of flavours. Layered on a bun with minty yoghurt sauce, salty feta and fresh salad, they’re better than anything the drive-through has to offer!
If fresh, summery flavours are a winner in your house (just like they always are in ours), the whole family will love this Caprese Baked Chicken. It might not be your usual Sunday dinner but it’s tasty and it looks the part!
We’ve pinched the refreshing flavours from a Caprese salad and loaded them into juicy chicken breasts. Slices of mozzarella and tomato are stuffed into hasselback-style chicken, with fragrant basil adding a yummy herby-ness. Add a crisp, fresh salad on the side for a lovely light dinner that’ll leave Dad with plenty of room for pudding!
Tempted to order in a takeaway as a treat? Whoever you’re cooking for, we promise they’ll enjoy this Chinese Chicken Curry just as much as the real deal. It’s a slow cooker favourite – so you can leave it bubbling away all day while you enjoy some quality family time.
You’ll need some Mayflower curry sauce mix to get that familiar Chinese-inspired tang into your dish. It should be easy to pick up online, in Home Bargains or B&M.
Father’s Day is a Sunday after all, so you can’t go far wrong by dishing up our classic Roast Beef and Gravy. With the whole family gathered around the table and plates full of all the best vegetable side dishes, it always feels like a celebration.
Special Sweet Treats
Whether for an after-dinner sweetener or as a snack with a cuppa earlier in the day, nothing says ‘thanks Dad’ more than a delicious baked treat. Tell him to put his feet up while you head into the kitchen and grab a wooden spoon.
If you want to go all out and impress him, this Raspberry and Blueberry Baked Cheesecake is the way to go. It looks like it was really tricky to make (it’s not!) and it tastes even better than a shop bought version.
That biscuit-y base is packed with flavour – there’s honey, lemon and cinnamon in there, to complement the rich vanilla of the cheesecake. Pile up plenty of summer berries on the top and you’ve got yourself a pud that’s a real showstopper.
You don’t have to spend hours in the kitchen on Father’s Day if you’d rather be hanging out with the family. This Lemon Sponge Traybake is served in just 35 minutes, for a speedy, citrusy sweet treat.
Covered in a zingy lemon curd and cut into portion-perfect squares, this is the kind of cake you’ll want to make for your favourite people all year round.
How about rounding off the day with some chocolate-y goodness? Combining two classics, our Chocolate Brownie Trifle might just be the ultimate dessert! We’re talking fruity jelly, creamy custard and chunks of real chocolate brownies on the top. Get a load of that!
You can make one big trifle if the whole family wants to share, or serve them in individual dessert glasses for easy peasy portion control. Can you believe these are just 239 calories each?
If the sun is shining, why not serve something cold and refreshing? Take the celebration outdoors and don’t forget to bring a scoop of Biscoff Swirl Ice Cream. Rich and creamy, no one would ever guess it only has 3 ingredients.
This one needs to be prepared in advance so that it can set in the freezer. Blend it all up and store it in a freezer-proof container ready to be served on Father’s Day.
