One thing’s for sure – we’ll never get bored of the rich caramel flavour of Biscoff spread! Paired with sweet bananas and a sprinkling of chocolate chips, it makes an irresistibly melty filling for these bakery style treats. 

Instead of using high-calorie pastry, we’ve squeezed our decadent-tasting filling inside a humble sandwich thin. Perfect for sweet or savoury bakes, this is one of our favourite slimming-friendly hacks!

The beauty of this easy Biscoff recipe is that you only need a handful of ingredients, and you probably already have most of them in your cupboards. We think a little sprinkle of chocolate really ramps up the indulgence, although you could experiment by adding in some chopped walnuts instead (just bear in mind you’ll need to work out any additional calories, if you’re counting).

Either way, by the time these come out of the oven you’ll have a golden, crispy shell with a gloriously gooey banana and Biscoff centre. For just 213 calories, we can’t think of anything else we’d rather nibble on while we relax with a cuppa.

Split the sandwich thins in half and lay out on a chopping board. Divide the banana mixture into 6 portions.

Place a portion of the banana mixture onto 6 of the sandwich thin halves, leaving a 1cm gap around the edge.

Brush beaten egg around the edges and place one of the remaining sandwich thin halves on top of the filling. Press the centre of the lid down gently with a flat hand, then press around the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges and seal well. Repeat until you’ve made 6 bakes.

Place the bakes on the lined baking tray and brush all over with the remaining egg. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and place on a cooling rack to cool slightly. You can serve these warm or cold, although we prefer them warm.

  • 2 medium bananas, peeled and thinly sliced, approx. 100g each
  • 4 tbsp smooth Biscoff spread
  • 15 g small plain chocolate chunks or chocolate chips
  • 1 medium egg, beaten

Tip: Leave the bakes on a cooling rack rather than on the baking tray, otherwise the bases may become soggy.
