Used leeks instead of mushrooms, it was fabulous so creamy & tasty, quick and easy to make.

Delicious, quick & Easy mid week dinner.
I used a garlic & berb stock cube instead of a beef one and garlic & herb soft cheese
It was gorgeous! Works with Turkey breast too
Super easy. I actually put the ingredients in my Ninja and pressure cooked on high for 15 minutes and it was perfect

Amazing Flavours
So easy to make I left the chicken breasts whole and cooked for longer. Didn’t have the vinegar but the taste was amazing. Even hubby cleared his plate. Definitely one to make again.
The recipe was perfect, I didn’t change anything.
A gorgeous meal, the whole family enjoyed, the chicken was perfect and loads of mushrooms, just how I like it. Loved the added paprika at the end.

I added 180g of rice just to fill it up a bit. Really tasty!
Add a little extra ...
I added more button mushrooms as they go so well with the lovely creamy sauce.

This was so good!
I wish I'd of prepped everything first, onions and mushrooms chopped ready etc but know now for next time!
Creamy garlic chicken with tagliatelle and carrots 🥰
Reduce the stock element down a little longer to make the sauce thick and creamy. Serve on top of tagliatelle for a real winner!

Very versatile dish and always tastes amazing. Delicious!
We always love this dish. Today I used chicken fillets and wrapped them in bacon. In the sauce I added a little baby spinach from the garden and peppers instead of mushrooms. Always tastes special. So versatile and easy to do!
A regular favourite in our houses.
As always we added cherry tomatoes, mushrooms & fresh chillis to put our own twist on this recipe & (we think) improve it! 👍
Easy peasy
I used chicken fillets instead. It took longer to cook but was delicious
Quick, easy and simply delicious.
I can’t believe this is a healthy dish, the sauce was so rich and creamy. I used turkey steaks instead of chicken breast as they were so much cheaper but they didn’t disappoint. Will definitely be making this again.
Family favourite easy and quick to cook
Freezes well and doesn't lose any flavour

So tasty
I just make the sauce on its own then add to whatever meat I fancy just portion the sauce and freeze and get out when needed. Also make using chestnut mushrooms for a slightly different taste both versions are yummy!
Very quick and easy to make! A family favourite!
We enjoyed it with steamed broccoli and basmati rice but would also be delicious with pasta too!
Creamy and full of flavour
A great low calorie dinner and easy to pull together
Tasty Dish that goes with anything.
This simple dish hits the spot. Easy to cook, all in one pan and goes well with pasta, rice and vegetables. My boys ask for this dish often a favourite on the meal planner. Try adding strips of bacon... its amazing
So simply to follow.
I added a handful of spinach for extra veggies.
Creamy garlic chicken
Amazing with baby potatoes and rice or just put it on a jacket potato. I also love to put it with pasta!!

This Creamy Garlic Chicken is perfect if you’re following a calorie controlled diet, and fits well with any one of the major diet plans such as Weight Watchers.

Step 1

Season the chicken with a little sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, then set aside

Step 2

Spray a large frying pan with low calorie cooking spray and place on a medium heat

Step 3

Add the chicken to the pan and quickly seal on all sides, then remove the meat from the pan, and set aside

Step 4

Return the pan to the medium heat.  Add the vinegar to the Worcestershire sauce and deglaze the pan with the mixture, scraping and stirring the browned bits from the pan – use some of the stock if you need to. When most of the liquid has evaporated spray the pan with some low calorie cooking spray. Add the onion, mushrooms and garlic and sauté for 5 minutes until they start to brown, then add the Dijon mustard and cook for a minute or two, stirring constantly

Step 5

Add the stock to the pan and simmer until the liquid has reduced by half

Step 6

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the cream cheese, making sure there are no lumps of cheese remaining

Step 7

Return the chicken to the pan, stir well and simmer for 5-10 minutes until the chicken is cooked. If the sauce looks a little thick you can add some more water until it reaches the consistency you prefer

Step 8

Sprinkle with the chopped chives and serve

Looking to make this tonight…1 stock cube, and how to make thicker? Please

Reply

    SharonTuesday 15th February 2022

Hi Jane, if you use one stock cube instead of the two stock pots, the flavour might not be quite as rich a stock pots have a more concentrated flavour. Make sure to reduce the liquid by half (step 5) before stirring in the cream cheese. If you then find the sauce is a little too thin for your taste, keep simmering, uncovered, for longer until it is a consistency you’re happy with. Hope this helps and enjoy the recipe!

I’ve been using this recipe for a while now, I always cook it from scratch but saw on here that you can freeze it. What’s the best way of reheating it after defrosting?

I’ve also been mixing in tagliatelle sometimes, it’s delish!

Reply

    HollyFriday 4th February 2022

Hey Nicole, ensure the chicken is defrosted thoroughly, cover the chicken and pop in the microwave for 2-3 minutes. Remove, stir, and cook for another 2-3 minutes until piping hot. Hope that helps!

Hi, I’m a little confused. In the book, this recipe is a weekly indulgence but on the website, it is an everyday light, so I’m not sure what to class it as.

Reply

    HollyThursday 6th January 2022

Hey Faye, in our books we sometimes include suggested accompaniments when we classify our dishes. For example a curry may come in at under 400 calories, but you would generally serve curry with rice or naan bread, which would then take it into the Weekly Indulgence category. So this Creamy Garlic Chicken is in our Everyday Light category as it is but would generally be served with an accompaniment it would then most likely change to our Weekly Indulgence category to be a complete meal. Hope that helps!

is there anything i can substitute mushrooms with?

Reply

    HollyMonday 3rd January 2022

Hi Nicola, you could swap the mushrooms for diced peppers or courgettes. Hope that helps!

TylerSunday 24th October 2021

I made this today and even though I am not a major mushroom fan, it all came out nice.
The next time I make It I would only add one stock cube as it’s just too salty, plus I’d only add 350mil of water as it was slightly runny for me. Great recipe though!

Does anyone else find the sauce quite watery/runny at the end? I love the flavour but find the sauce doesn’t tend to be thick!

Reply

    HollyWednesday 14th July 2021

Hey Maddie, when making this recipe make sure you reduced the liquid by half in step 5 this will make the sauce a lot thicker before adding the cream cheese. Hope that helps!

Hey Tanisha, this recipe isn’t really suitable for the slow cooking as the cream cheese won’t react well to a slow cook time. Have a look HERE for our range of slow cooker recipes. Hope that helps!
