Step 1

Draw a simple outline of a ghost on a small piece of thin card. We made our ghost template about 8cm tall and 8cm wide, but you may need to adjust the size to make sure it leaves a border all around when placed on your slice of bread. Cut out the ghost template and set aside.

Spray a small non-stick frying pan with low-calorie cooking spray and place over a low heat. When the pan is hot, place the egg-soaked bread slice in the pan and cook for about 2 minutes until lightly golden. You can gently lift the edge of the bread with a fish slice to see if it’s ready to turn. Flip the bread and continue to cook the other side for a further 2 minutes or until lightly golden.

Recipe notes

Tip: We used white bread rather than wholemeal bread as the image of the ghost will be more obvious on white bread.
Tip: If you'd like to see a different spooky image on your toast, just use thin card to make a simple template for the image you'd like. Other suggestions are bats, vampires, witches, pumpkins or anything else you fancy!
