We use a stick blender like this to make the BBQ sauce, because they are so easy to use and (just as importantly) so easy to clean.
If you’re anything like us you’ll always have a pack of cocktails sticks lurking at the back of the cupboard, usually leftover from Christmas.
But if not you can pick some up from any supermarket or from Amazon.

Obviously, if your goal is to lose weight then you might want to adjust these slightly! You can read more about these recommendations on the NHS website.

What should you serve with this Hunter’s Chicken?
Any of the following go really well with Hunter’s Chicken. It’s one of those dishes that goes with pretty much anything.
How do you know when this Hunter’s Chicken is cooked?
As with all chicken dishes, it will be cooked when the juices run clear after pricking the chicken with a fork.
This should take approx 1 hour in the oven.
Standard advice here in the UK is to cook food until it has reached 70°C and stayed at that temperature for 2 minutes. This is to keep your family safe.
How long can you keep Hunter’s Chicken in the fridge?
Once you’ve put it out, ideally you should eat it within 4 hours.
If you allow any left overs to cool, make sure to refrigerate them straight away, in a container with a lid. You can keep leftovers of Hunter’s Chicken in the fridge for approximately 2 or 3 days.
Can I freeze Hunter’s Chicken?
Yes you can! This recipe can be frozen, but please remember to do the following;
- Freeze it as soon as it is cold enough.
- Use a container or bag that is suitable for freezing.
Don’t forget to add a label with what it is, and on what date you put it in the freezer! Unless you fancy mystery food for dinner haha.
How do I reheat Hunter’s Chicken?
From chilled: Place in a microwavable container with a loosely fitting lid and heat for 4-7 minutes until piping hot.
From frozen: Allow to defrost, and heat covered in the microwave for 3-5 minutes then stir. Cook for a further 5-7 minutes until piping hot.

Hi my kids found the sauce a bit tangy, not quite as sweet as other, although less healthy recipes.
Is there anything I can do to adjust to make it more family friendly but still healthy?

ZoeWednesday 4th April 2018

LauraTuesday 16th January 2018
Has the method for this changed? I’ve done this a few times before (but not for a while) and I’m sure I did the sauce on the hob first and I know I didn’t blend anything.
About to do it now and it’s confused me.
LauraTuesday 16th January 2018
Thank you.

Hi – Can I confirm if it is 170 or 180 on fan please?
Underneath the recipe it says “We use a fan assisted oven for all of our recipes”.
The recipe states 180 so I am a tad confused and wanted to make sure.
Thank you
Terri MilneTuesday 14th May 2019
Hello
Is both the vinegars and hot sauce essential? I don’t have these, is there anything I could use as an alternative?
Thanks
Terri
CateSaturday 25th May 2019
The vinegar adds some acidity, so you would want to replace it will something like lemon juice and a pinch of sweetener if you can. The Franks sauce could be substituted for Tabasco, sriracha or a pinch of chilli powder 🙂
Eleth PeateFriday 17th November 2017
With the oven method, is it 180C on the fan setting or the normal setting? Thanks
