We’ve got lots of slimming friendly treats for you this week, including some boneless salt and pepper chicken thighs that’ll curb your takeaway cravings for far fewer calories than you’d expect. There are a couple of Yorkshire pudding wraps in our basket too – the perfect way to transform your roast dinner leftovers into a comfort-filled feast…
Oh, and did we mention the brand new Skittles Stix lollies we’ve found? Taste the rainbow in fruity, iced form for only 58 calories!
Don’t forget to let us know if you’ve tried any of the recipes from Pinch of Nom Comfort Food! We’d LOVE to know which dishes are your favourites! If you haven’t picked up a copy yet, you can order yours right here.
You can share your recipes and photos by posting over in our Facebook group, where you’ll also find our members having a good old chat about lots of these shopping items too. You can join the group by clicking here. Make sure to let us know if you spot any yummy looking, slimming friendly new products on the supermarket shelves – we might just feature them in our next article!
Our Weekly Pinch of Shopping list aims to show you slimming friendly products that you can find online or in one of your local supermarkets. We try to make it as easy as possible for you to pick up these items as part of your usual weekly shop, and we’ll always include the calorie information and the RRP for you.
Please remember that, although all prices are correct at the time of writing, supermarkets can change their prices often, so this should be used as a guide only.
Speaking of doing your weekly shopping, did you know our Quick & Easy food planner includes handy pull-out shopping list pages? It’s ideal for planning your meals and organising what you need to buy (plus there are 26 exclusive recipes inside!).
Along with our favourite new finds from the supermarket shelves, each week we include details of the Aldi Super 6. Every fortnight Aldi discounts a selection of 6 fruits and veggies that you can pick up for a fraction of the price. This week we’ve given you a reminder of the current selection, so hurry down to Aldi to pick up some bargains before a fresh selection goes on offer next week!

**A note on our shopping list: we do not take payment, promotion or gifts for including any of the items mentioned in these articles. We bring them to you because we love them and hope you will too!**
Weetabix Oatibix Flakes Nutty Crunch Cereal – 122 calories per serving
How do you like your oats in the morning? If you like them nutty with a crunch, you’ll love this Oatibix Flakes Nutty Crunch Cereal from Weetabix. With honeycomb flavours, caramelised nuts, flaked almonds and cornflakes, each bowlful is packed with filling, fibrous wholegrains (and vitamins!) to start your day right.
Knowing we’re waking up to a tasty breakfast always has us jumping out of bed. Hearty, home-baked oat recipes with warming flavours like our Cinnamon Roll Baked Oats are a winner all-year round, but they’re especially good on a chilly morning.
Sainsbury’s Hot Cross Bun Bagels – 207 calories per bagel
These Hot Cross Bun Bagels from Sainsbury’s already have us in the mood for spring. Made from sourdough, with a fruity filling of sultanas, currants and orange zest, they’ll add an Easter twist to your morning routine. They’re best enjoyed warm and toasty with a coating of low fat spread and a cuppa on the side!
Speaking of sweet breakfast options, our creamy Chai Rice Pudding recipe is a delightful alternative to porridge. We use unsweetened almond milk to lower the calories without losing out on silky texture. If you’d rather save the sweetness until the evening, you can curl up with a bowlful for dessert too!
Philadelphia Plant-Based Almond & Oat Soft Cheese Alternative – 65 calories per serving
We were so excited to spot that Philadelphia have launched their very first vegan cheese spread in Tesco! Their Almond and Oat Soft Cheese Alternative is fully plant-based and slimming friendly. At only 65 calories per serving using this tasty, spreadable cheese alternative won’t take you off track.
A low fat, spreadable cream cheese keeps our Marmite Mushrooms on Toast indulgent and comforting for far fewer calories. Why not use Philadelphia’s all-new spread to make a dairy-free version of this flavoursome breakfast recipe? On the table in less than 15 minutes, you’re far more likely to love it than hate it (trust us!)…
Philadelphia Plant-Based Almond & Oat Soft Cheese Alternative is available from Tesco, priced at £2.50 per pot.
Remedy Kombucha Wild Berry Drink (Pack of 4) – 6 calories per can
How about a fizzy, low calorie tea infused with wild berry flavours? A swig from a can of Remedy Kombucha Wild Berry is a surefire way to freshen up your snack break. If you’ve never tried Kombucha, it’s a slightly fizzy, fermented mushroom tea that’s often softened with a sweet flavouring. Like green tea, it’s a good source of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
Like the sound of wild berry flavours? You’ll love the warm, berry filling in our Vegan Blackberry and Apple Crumble. Rather than a calorie-laden crumble, we’ve used a clever swap of oats, sweetener and cinnamon for our crisp topping. Delish!
Schar Delishios Chocolate Biscuits – 188 calories per pack
These Schar Delishios Chocolate Biscuits are a handy, sweet nibble for 188 calories per pack. You get a light, gluten-free biscuit centre coated in a thin layer of chocolate, so they’re perfect to snack on throughout the day.
Our Chocolate Rice Crispy Bites are another light, chocolatey bite that’ll hit the spot for only 30 calories per crispy square. We’ve finished them off with an irresistible drizzle of melted white chocolate… Go on, you know you want to (or two?)!
Dopsu No Beef Pieces – 210 calories per pack
High in protein and low in saturated fat, these Dopsu No Beef Pieces would be a great addition to your freezer if you’re looking to cut down on your meat intake. They come ready-cut in convenient beef strips, so they’re ideal to throw straight into the pan to make a tasty stroganoff, stir-fry or curry dish!
Why not use them to make a meat-free version of our hugely popular Crispy Chilli Beef recipe? There are lots of ingredients to this Fakeaway favourite, but trust us – the result is so worth it! It’s just as fiery, crispy and satisfying as the takeaway alternative.
Iceland Salt and Pepper Boneless Chicken Thighs – 204 calories per 1/6 pack
We’ve found a salt and pepper treat for you with these pre-seasoned boneless chicken thighs from Iceland. Simply pop them in the oven for around 25 minutes until the flavoursome coating is golden and crispy. They’d definitely be a winner with the whole family served up with some fluffy steamed veggies and whole grain rice.
Obsessed with salt and pepper? You could always bake a batch of Salt and Pepper Chips to go with your salt and pepper chicken thighs. Our recipe takes less than 30 minutes to prep and cook, and it’s really easy to adjust the spice levels by adding or removing chillies to suit your tastes.
Morrisons Yorkshire Pudding Wraps Twin Pack – 291 calories per pack
If you’re looking for a break from bread, these Morrisons Yorkshire Pudding Wraps are perfect to pop in the freezer until you’re ready to stuff them with the perfect filling. They cook really quickly, so they’re ideal when you want to rustle up a quick lunch that’s not just the same old sandwich.
We’ve got our own Yorkshire Pudding Wrap recipe, which comes in at only 281 calories per portion (filling included!), and makes the most of roast dinner leftovers. You can experiment with all sorts of tasty fillings – try stuffing them with cheesy veg or pulled pork and stuffing. Just be sure to adjust the calories accordingly!
Chiquito® Piri Piri Skin On Fries – 261 calories per serving
Packed with signature salty, fiery flavours, these Chiquito® Piri Piri Skin On Fries are a great option if you want all the flavours of eating out at home. At 261 calories per serving, they’re well worth bunging in the oven until they’re crispy and good to serve with dip or slaw.
You could even serve them up as a side dish with our tasty showstopper Tandoori Chicken recipe. This zesty, spicy chicken dish offers a more colourful alternative to a traditional Sunday roast. After slow cooking, we’d recommend popping it in the oven for a bit just to crisp up the skin – SO good!
Skittles Stix Fruits – 58 calories per lolly
These fun and vibrant Skittles Stix lollies bring all the bright and colourful rainbow vibes home with them for only 58 calories per stick. With fruit-flavoured ice cream surrounding a sugary centre, they’ll definitely leave you satisfied, with a hit of nostalgia to boot.
Our Tropical Crumble recipe is also fruity, warming and deliciously sweet for only 223 calories per ramekin. Super quick to make, they’re a great option if you fancy a crunchy-topped, fruit-filled warm dessert you can add a glug of Custard to!
