This slimming friendly Smoked Haddock and Cheese Gratin is an indulgent meal but still great if you’re calorie counting or following Weight Watchers. It’s a fresh spin on smoked haddock with cheese sauce, and it would go really well with some freshly steamed vegetables.
The mashed potato topping for this gratin is creamy and fluffy without using any milk, butter or cream, but you will need a good electric potato masher to do this. They’re a great tool to have in the kitchen as they often come with many attachments – giving you lots of tools in one!

Put the spinach in the bottom of an ovenproof dish, then place the cooked fish and sauce on top.

Pipe the potato around the outside, leaving a gap in the middle.

Sprinkle the cheese in the gap and top with the chopped spring onion.
Step 8
Then either place under the grill or in a hot oven until the cheese is melted and the potato is golden brown.
