Crispy chicken is one of our favourite foods from the Chinese takeaway, especially when it's slathered in a sticky sweet and sour sauce! Our version lends itself equally well to beef, turkey or even prawns, and we think it's even better than the original version without the extra calories.

Hints & Tips

The chicken can be cooked in an air fryer. Preheat the air fryer to 200ºC and cook for 8-9 minutes. If you freeze this recipe the chicken will not be as crispy when reheated.

NEW TIP
Straight to wok noodles
Save washing up and electric/water. Use straight to wok noodles instead of dried and throw them in your wok last minute to warm through before serving. Saves on an additional pan and its quicker and easier
Loved the recipe, swapped chicken for tofu
Nothing beats a good takeout, but this does, i love sweet & sour sauce and this is perfect for tofu, fresh tofu, I pressed for 24 hrs, then coated in a bit of cornflour and grilled it then slathers it in the sauce.
Definitely do the chicken in the air fryer for the crisp, and I added more of the liquid ingredients as it made it much more tastier! Will definitely make again.
Extra sauce
Double the sauce ingredients to make it a bit more ‘saucy’!
Better than any sweet and sour chicken I've had before
Don't be put off by the amount of ingredients - so worth all the preparation - not a great fan of sweet and sour but loved this dish - came together beautifully
