NEW TIP
Top tier quirky pie with minimal effort!
Put the filling ingredients in the slow cooker and leave it to do its thing all day. The beef ends up melt in your mouth!
NEW TIP
So easy in the slow cooker and finished in air fryer, easy
Slow cooker method so easy and then chips in airfryer, makes for an end result which is so quick and easy
I did roast potatoes and vegetables.
Instead of using chips, I decided to do it with roast potatoes n the air fryer and vegetables as a alternative, and did this for Sunday dinner . Recipie was so easy to follow, and although Iv done this before with the chips, this was just enjoyable
Great recipe, but I decided to take it up a level by adding some English mustard to the gravy and topping the pie with a little cheese. Game changer
Cooking the Chips
Cool the chips longer but on a lower heat to ensure They’re cooked right through, soft on the inside but crispy on the outside.
Added a red wine stock pot to the meat, gave the sauce a lovely rich flavour and cooked with skin on chunky chips 😋 clean plates say it's a winner
Delicious and healthier alternative to pastry
I fried off the meat, onions & mushrooms first for a bit of colour & to seal the meat. I used more water in the stock for gravy. The chips I sprinkled with paprika.
Change your potato shape
I love this pie it is so tasty. Sometimes I change my potato shapes to flat chips or potato cubes for a change. Also you could use the steak base and top with mash.
Try different seasoning on the chips for an extra taste sensation 🤣
Can't wait to make it again!
I added some smoked paprika to my chips for a little extra flavour. This can be swapped for other herbs and spices and gives you new flavours each time.
Tasty chips
I would suggest par boiling the chips first in order to help them cook quicker and evenly.
Family Favourite
Absolutely amazing meal for the whole family to tuck into 😋
Really easy, very delicious
Instead of chips, I used cooked potatoes in the oven…
air fryer
I used my air fryer to par cook the chips then put them on top of the steak before finishing them off in the oven. I also added a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce to the steak mix just to give it some extra taste.
I love this recipe, feels really naughty
I part boiled my potatoes before topping, I think you could also add extra veg (onions, Garlic) if you wanted more veg in side 🙂
Baby potatoes
Used baby potatoes without peeling to save time
Family favourite
Changed the chips for boiled potatoes and had cauliflower, brocoli cheese done with 50ml veg stock, 1 tsp mustard powder and asda garlic n herb cheese light.
Loved the steak stew, even my hubby who is the stew master says this is the best... winner all round.. love how easy this dish is, I pre make it and heat the next day and add the corn flour then.
Scallops
If you wanted more of a pie shape cut the potato into scallops rather than chips put them all the way round then fill with the steak mix and some more scallops on top
Don’t normally eat Steak however this was delicious!
I used the slow cooker method, and also made potato slices instead of the chip method (Husband Request!) The potato slices were par boiled and done in the airfryer before adding to the top of the main recipe.
I made extra filling and froze it, ready to just add chips for a quick evening meal
So tasty. Would highly recommend
Did not add carrots. Cooked separate as a side.
Absolutely delicious
I did the chips in my tefal actifry and cooked the ‘pie’ in my slow cooker. Absolutely delicious, a new house favourite.
Our new favourite!
I decided to use my new actifry and got to say the chips were the best ever! Added a little Cajun spice to them for that extra little kick! The filling I made in my slow cooker, super easy to make! Our new favourite.
