Our Weekly Pinch of Shopping list aims to show you slimming-friendly products that you can find online or in one of your local supermarkets. We try to make it as easy as possible for you to pick up these items as part of your usual weekly shop, and we’ll always include the calorie information and the RRP for you.

ASDA Green Glow Apple, Pear, Cucumber, Matcha Green Tea and Spirulina – 65 calories per 150ml
Brightly coloured and jam-packed with a variety of nutritious ingredients, this Green Glow drink from Asda is next to impossible to miss in the supermarket aisle. While Matcha Tea itself has a subtly earthy, herbal taste, it’s balanced out here with the sweetness of apple, pear and lime juices to create a gulp-worthy refreshment. Not too much of a squeeze on your budget, this nutrient-filled drink is all about supporting healthier looking skin. If this one’s not a Matcha with you, there’s berry or coconut flavours available in the same range (and for the same price!).
Speaking of bright colours, slimming-friendly dishes don’t come much more vibrant than our Salad Grain Bowl. Just the ticket for when the sun’s got its hat on, this refreshing, leafy bowl of grains will fill you right up. Ready in a flash (in less than 15 minutes, prep included!), we’ve drizzled our crunchy veggies and beans with a homemade sweet chilli and lime drizzle. You do not want to miss it!

Ready, Set…Cook! Peri Peri Salt – 5 calories per 3g serving
Ready, Set… Bargain! Thanks to Aldi, you can grab this Peri Peri seasoned salt from the seasoning section for a budget-friendly 79p. Give chips or veggies a fresh, peri peri lease of life with a simple shake. These salt grains come at a family-friendly level of spice, so even the fussiest diners at the table will get on board! The same range has garlic and herb and southern fried seasonings available too, so it’s time to make room on the spice rack (cheers, Aldi!).
Juicy, succulent and marinated with a peri peri style seasoning, our Tex Mex Chicken is an instant winner of a chicken dinner. We love to serve it with a side of our Mexican Potatoes, but if you’re stuck for time or ingredients, a shake of Aldi’s Peri Peri Salt over ordinary chips will bring a full peri-seasoned spread together quickly!

FULFIL Chocolate Salted Caramel Vitamin & Protein Bar Snack – 148 calories per bar
We’re always on the lookout for a pick-me-up we can carry in our pocket, so we had to add FULFIL’s Chocolate Salted Caramel Vitamin & Protein Bar to our list. This protein-filled treat comes coated in a sweet layer of milk chocolate, so it’ll curb your sweet cravings and fuel you for the day ahead. At only 148 calories per bar, they’re well worth taking on the go to combat the dreaded afternoon energy lull.
Rich and chocolatey with a crispy bite, we’ve kept the calories low in our Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars by swapping out higher calorie peanut butter for peanut butter powder. Made to be taken on the go, pop these moreish squares in your tupperware and enjoy them for up to a week (just make sure they’re properly refrigerated along the way!).
FULFIL Chocolate Salted Caramel Vitamin & Protein Bar Snack is available from Sainsbury’s, priced at £1.25 per bar.
Snack A Jacks BBQ – 78 calories per bag
Snack a Jacks are well-known as a slimming-friendly staple, but there’s a brand-new flavour in town! As usual, they’ve kept the calories lower by ‘popping’ instead of frying, so you can enjoy each barbecue-seasoned bite for 78 calories per bag. Easy to take on the go, these convenient mini bags come as a pack of 5 – so you can pop open a bag throughout the working week without busting your budget. You can always ramp up the indulgence on your snack break by enjoying your rice cakes with a dip.
Our slimming-friendly Hummus Style Dip would go down a treat, without adding too many calories to your count (177 for a portion!). It’s nice and easy to make in a batch and take on the go – from carrot sticks to pitta slices to crisps, our hummus-style dip takes any savoury snack up a notch!
Snack A Jacks BBQ are available from Tesco, priced at £1.75 for a pack of 5 bags.
Pollen + Grace Peri Peri Spicy Rice Meal Box – 310 calories per meal box
When it’s been a busy day and you don’t have time for lunch prep, readymade options like this Pollen + Grace Peri Peri Spicy Rice Meal Box are there to spice things up a bit. Prepared using a combination of punchy plant-based ingredients, it’s perfect for when you’re having a meat-free day. With fiery peri peri seasoned cauliflower florets, herby rice, black-eyed peas and roasted potatoes, lunch in a rush has never been so exciting!
If you’re a fan of cauliflower, we absolutely recommend our Cauliflower Hot Wings recipe. Baked to perfection in less than half an hour (or 20 minutes, if you’re using your air fryer), we can’t get enough of that oh-so-satisfying veggie crunch. Don’t worry if you don’t love spice – we show you how to make a cooling yoghurt dip too!
Birds Eye Green Cuisine Chicken-Free Dippers – 274 calories per 5 dippers
These Green Cuisine Chicken-Free Dippers from Birds Eye add a plant-based twist to a dinnertime classic. Made with wheat protein instead of chicken, these vegan-friendly dippers come coated in a crispy, light batter (for only 274 calories per portion!). Keep them in the freezer for a quick and easy oven-baked win – all you have to figure out is what you’ll dip them in…
Not just for vegans, our Air Fryer Vegan Nuggets are so crunchy and satisfying, we’re betting no one will notice the difference! If you don’t have an air fryer, they’re just as good fresh from the oven. We’ve used cauliflower, carrot and red pepper to make sure they’re full of flavour and goodness. Did we mention they come with a mouth-wateringly tasty Sriracha-ketchup dip?

ASDA Herby Garlic & Parsley King Prawns – 75 calories per 1/2 pack
Ready when you are, these Herby Garlic & Parsley King Prawns we spotted in Asda would be perfect for lunchtime in the sunshine. They come ready-cooked and pre-coated in a fragrant Mediterranean-style marinade, so all you have to do is peel back the lid and enjoy! Combine them with a fresh, crispy salad for an easy peasy flavour-filled lunch.
Can you believe our Creamy Garlic Prawns is made without a jug of cream in sight? With a clever mix of reduced-fat cream cheese, garlic and crunchy veggies, we’ve made our version of the luxury tapas dish as low as 225 calories per portion.
That’s tonight’s tea sorted! Serve them over a bed of Creamy Mashed Potatoes and Garlic Green Beans for an instant family favourite (trust us, it’s divine!).

Young’s Scampi – 213 calories per 1/3 pack
We love finding ways to enjoy high-calorie restaurant foods for fewer calories! The breadcrumb coating on this Young’s Scampi comes in much lighter than the version you’d get at the pub, so we had to include it on the list. At only 213 calories per 1/3 pack, it’s nice and easy to enjoy as a midweek teatime treat. Why not put on a full pub grub inspired spread with a side of Homemade Oven Chips and peas?
When you’ve got a hankering for a chippy tea, it’s good to know that our Fish and Chips Wrap bundles up all your favourite flavours in a soft low-calorie tortilla. From breadcrumb-coated fish to chunky chips and mushy peas, it’s tough to believe this one’s only 272 calories per wrap – tartare sauce included!

Morrisons Chinese Salt & Pepper Crisps – 125 calories per 1/6 pack
Calling all lovers of Salt and Pepper Chips! These takeaway-style crisps we’ve spotted in Morrison’s are bound to be your bag. Thick and crinkle cut, they come loaded with a mild salt and pepper seasoning that’ll curb your cravings with a crunch. Available in ‘Cheeseburger’ flavour too, these family-sized bags are perfect for sharing on a cosy night in front of the telly. We’ll take both bags, thanks!
Now here is a showstopper worth sharing! There’s more than enough to go around with these seriously cheesy Cheeseburger Nachos. Loaded with beef, shredded lettuce, gherkins and (of course) melty cheese, there’s nothing to stop you having some fun with alternative burger toppings. We’ll be adding crispy chunks of bacon to ours!
Just be sure to account for any additional calories, if you’re counting.

Quaker Heavenly Oats Caramel Fudge Porridge Pot – 223 calories per pot
If you don’t already start your day with porridge, these new Heavenly Oats pots from Quaker Oats will make you want to. Each pot comes with a silky blend of jumbo and rolled oats, for creamier spoonfuls and a chunkier texture. It’s all topped off with gooey fudge pieces and a decadent drizzle of caramel. What a heavenly way to start the day! If you’re not a fudge fan, don’t worry – there’s a yummy chocolate orange edition available too.
If it’s deliciousness in a pot you’re looking for, our Biscoff Lava Cakes are a dream. These sweet little gooey-in-the-middle puddings are so simple to make, you can easily whip them up after dinner at a moment’s notice. They’re scrumptious all on their own, but there’s nothing to stop you adding a swirl of aerosol cream or a glug of Custard if you’re feeling fancy (we won’t tell!).

NEW Aldi Super 6 Fruit and Veg Selection
We love Aldi’s Super 6 selection of fresh fruit and veggies! Each fortnight they choose six different items for a special offer where you can pick them up for much less than the normal price. Here’s the rundown of this week’s offering (looks like it’s a Super 5 this week!) along with some recipe ideas for you.
Green Beans – 31 calories per 100g
Roast them, air fry them, throw them into stews and pasta dishes or use them to bulk out crispy salads – nutritious green beans are versatile and easy to cook. Whether you’re serving up fish, meat or just looking for a healthy nibble, they’ll also bring an appetising pop of colour to your plate.
Before crisping them up to perfection in our air fryer, we coat these Crispy Green Beans in a garlicky mixture of herby breadcrumbs. Once they’re turning golden, that’s your cue to add a sprinkling of Parmesan.
Sweetcorn – 86 calories per 100g
Serving up some corn on the cob is a surefire way to brighten up your mealtimes. You can boil it, grill it, barbecue or roast it, and serve it on the side of a delicious homemade burger or as part of a fresh summery salad.
Instead of smothering it in high-calorie butter, why not try our Mexican Corn on the Cob? It’s rich and spicy, with crumbled Feta cheese.
Courgettes – 17 calories per 100g
From the same family as cucumbers and squash, courgettes are one of the most versatile veggies going. They’re easy to prepare and cook – you don’t even need to peel them.
With a mild flavour, you can throw a handful into just about any recipe if you want to add some extra vitamins. We love using them to make these Lasagne Courgette Boats. They’re fun, delicious and low carb!
Salad Tomatoes – 20 calories per 100g
True to their namesake, salad tomatoes are the perfect addition to freshen up any salad. With minimum prep required, they’re a quick and easy way to add vitamins to a side dish or light lunch.
You can try them in our super filling BLT Pasta Salad – it’s a tasty option for your packup that’ll have you looking forward to lunch all day!
Mini Apples – 53 calories per 100g
Don’t be fooled by how small they are! Mini apples might look little, but they’re big on flavour and super high in fibre, so they’ll leave your taste buds happy and your snack cravings curbed.
They’re also a sweet, juicy excuse to get your bake on. At only 95 calories per biscuit, why not rustle up a batch of Apple Pie Cookies? You’ll be the envy of everyone at the office with these in your tupperware…
