This BLT Pasta Salad is suitable for gluten free diets as long as you use gluten free pasta.

It can be made dairy free by swapping out the following ingredients for dairy free versions;

  • Quark

Please make sure to double or triple check all of your ingredients if you’re cooking for people with allergies.

Do you need any special ingredients to make this BLT Pasta Salad?

You don’t need anything special to make this dish, but we like to serve it in a large bowl on the table or at a barbecue. We used a type of Fusilli pasta shape called Fusilli Bucati Corti, which is available in some food shops and online. Fusilli pasta you would find in most supermarkets works perfectly for this recipe and is easier to get your hands on!

Hints & Tips

Below we added some of our communities most common hints and tips. We hope you find them useful.

All-purpose seasoning is a general seasoning that can be used to enhance flavours in most dishes. It is usually found in the supermarket spice aisle.

Used red pepper instead of tomatoes
Swapped the tomatoes for red pepper and left out the Quark as I didn't have any. Added a squeeze of lemon juice to the yogurt along with the seasoning - gorgeous!
New favourite lunch
Loved this recipe. I did substitute lettuce for thinly sliced cucumber as I didn't have lettuce and I used cream cheese, not quark due to preference but was still lovely, even the husband Loved it
I used gluten free pasta to adapt to my diet, lovely dish for a hot hot day !
1
Use extra light mayo instead!
I didn't have all the ingredients needed for the sauce so I just used extra light mayonnaise instead- tasted just as good!

Hi what could you use instead of the Schwartz Season All as I can’t get it anywhere? Thanks

Reply

    HollyFriday 29th July 2022

Hi Nicola, I’ve just had a look online and some supermarkets do their own Season All mix if you can’t get hold of the branded version. Alternatively we have an everything spice blend in THIS article which you could use instead. Hope that helps!

Has anyone got any suggestions what I could replace the quark and yoghurt with as they give me migraines. Thanks

Hey Debbie, not sure if it would help but you could try swapping for dairy free alternatives. Alternatively you could use a little mayonnaise instead but you would need to alter the calories accordingly. Hope that helps!

How much dried pasta do you use?

Reply

    SharonFriday 15th April 2022

Hi Emma, once cooked, dried pasta will roughly double in weight. So to get 500g cooked pasta you’ll need to start with about 250g of dried pasta.Hope this helps.

I made this for the first time yesterday. When had today it seemed to have gone dry. Is there anything you would recommend for this not to happen?

Reply

    HollyTuesday 3rd August 2021

Hey Paige, if you find that the pasta salad has dried out a little in the fridge you could add a little bit of extra yoghurt or quark to loosen up the sauce again. Hope that helps!
