Who doesn’t like pancakes?! We love them! This Low Syn Folded Berry Pancake is a bit more traditional looking than the pancake stacks we have on the site already. We’re still using our HEB of oats, and it’s still perfect when following the Slimming World Extra Easy plan.
How is this Low Syn Folded Berry Pancake so Low in Syns?
Usually, you’d make pancakes with some oil, but oil + Slimming World = Syns. This is where Sunflower Frylight comes in!
When ever we need to replace oil in cooking we use Frylight. Perfect for everyday frying and cooking, it delivers exactly one calorie per spray, which makes it Syn free! The Sunflower or Olive Oil flavours are ideal for this Low Syn Folded Berry Pancake recipe.
What’s more, Sunflower Frylight contains NO artificial ingredients.
Next, the ingredients!
This Low Syn Folded Berry Pancake is only so low in Syns if you use a proportion of your Healthy Extra A & all of your Healthy Extra B. If you don’t then you will have to Syn them accordingly (7 for the oats and 1 for the skimmed milk).
We’ve also added a couple of teaspoons of Sweet Freedom Light Fruit Syrup (for 1 syn) and 3 tablespoons of light or reduced fat aerosol cream (for half a Syn). Of course, these are entirely optional but they do make all the difference!
That means that if you don’t use your Healthy Extra allowances for this recipe it will work out at 9.5 syns.
Should I Syn the sweetener in this Low Syn Folded Berry Pancake?
As you will probably know Slimming World brought out some new recommendations regarding the syn value of granulated sweeteners last year.
Where there is 1 tbsp or more being used per serving they recommend members count 0.5 Syn per tbsp. If using smaller amounts, like a pinch or teaspoon, there’s no need to worry about Syns at all.
The recipe for this Low Syn Folded Berry Pancake only uses half a tablespoon of sweetener so there’s no need to add any syns on for the sweetener itself.
