How many Syns are in this Folded Berry Pancake?

This Folded Berry Pancake is only 1.5 Syns if you use a proportion of one of your Healthy Extra A allowances & all of your Healthy Extra B.

If you don’t want to use any Healthy Extras, then you will have to Syn them accordingly (7 Syns for the Ready Brek and 1 Syn for the skimmed milk).

You can choose whatever berries and fruit you like for this Folded Berry Pancake – why not choose something from our Slimming World Speed Food List?!

We’ve added a couple of teaspoons of Sweet Freedom Light Fruit Syrup (for 1 syn) and 3 tablespoons of light or reduced fat aerosol cream (for half a Syn).

Of course, these are entirely optional but they do make all the difference!

Why have you changed from blitzed oats to Ready Brek?

Slimming World are forever reviewing ingredients and recipes. Although the Healthy Extra B is a measured amount, they have stated that the purpose of oats as a Healthy Extra B is that they expand and are filling on consumption.

As Ready Brek is being used in its original form and is again a measured amount for your Healthy Extra B, there’s no chance of it being used incorrectly in this recipe.

We also happen to think the texture of the pancakes is much better when using Ready Brek!

Should I Syn the sweetener in this Low Syn Folded Berry Pancake?

As you will probably know Slimming World brought out some new recommendations regarding the syn value of granulated sweeteners.

Where there is 1 tbsp or more being used per serving they recommend members count 0.5 Syn per tbsp. If using smaller amounts, like a pinch or teaspoon, there’s no need to worry about Syns at all.

The recipe for this Folded Berry Pancake only uses half a tablespoon of sweetener so there’s no need to add any Syns on for the sweetener itself.

How do I make this Folded Berry Pancake?

Step 1

Mix the Ready Brek, eggs, milk, vanilla and sweetener together well.

Step 2

Spray a frying pan with some Low Calorie Cooking Spray and allow to heat.

Step 3

Pour the mix in the pan to make 1 large pancake. Allow to cook through until brown underneath, then turn and cook for a few more minutes.

Step 4

Place pancake on a plate and arrange the fruits on one half. Squirt 3 tbsp of light aerosol cream around the edge of the pancake. Fold the pancake over, and place a whole strawberry on top (this will help hold the folded pancake down).

    1. Hi Claire,

We discuss this on several of our other recipes which use blitzed oats. It’s not considered a tweak a the amount is measured and still remains nutritionally the same and therefore your HexB.
