Hints & Tips

Below we added some of our communities most common hints and tips. We hope you find them useful.

NEW TIP
If you like more of a kick add a teaspoon of chilli powder or a chopped green chilli.
Hundreds of flavours under one roof 🥰
Wow this was so easy to make and tastes amazing. Perfect comfort food for a dreary day.
Added a little garam masala and ground cumin for extra spice. Really enjoyed the result! Served with a little tenderstem brocolli.
Delicious Keema Pie
Use a curry powder the hotness you prefer, everyone is different. I grated the carrots for someone who hates carrots. We used a mix of potatoes and sweet potatoes for the topping with a little bit of English mustard. Serve with plenty of veg.
Fab low cal pie!
I added extra carrots and peas to bulk it out further, cheaply. I reduce the quantity of sweet potato and replaced it with butternut squash. Fab way to reduce the potato content but keep it filling and really healthy..
Delicious.
I added Swede to the topping and as I had no mustard seeds for the topping I added some cumin.
Hubby added Mango chutney which I thought was lovely when I tried. Chick peas added to mince could possibly work.
I added 2 teaspoons of gravy granules to thicken it up
Amazing
I made mine in separate oven dishes so we had the correct portions and so I can freez some for another time.
Deeeelish
One of my favourite go too’s. I always increase the mash by half as like it a bit thicker on top. Lovely dish that doesn’t need accompaniments and freezes well, delish!
So easy to make, looked Just like the picture in the book
I didn't have sweet potato so Just used normal potato. Tasted fantastic

Can i freeze the leftovers? Just wondering if the mash will reheat well?

Hi Mark, this recipe is great for freezing. To reheat allow to defrost, and heat covered in the microwave for 5-7 minutes until piping hot. Please refer to the NHS Guidelines for storing and reheating food safely. Hope that helps!
