Our Somerset Sausages have all the flavours of a West Country orchard, and they’re so light on calories! We’re all about hearty, fuss-free meals, and this one leaves you with hardly any washing up. Cider adds a subtle sweetness to our gravy, while the butter beans bring a silky, substantial texture.

Hints & Tips

Below we added some of our communities most common hints and tips. We hope you find them useful.

Swap This

If you aren't keen on using cider, you can swap it out for apple juice! You can also swap the pork sausages for chicken or veggie alternative ones.

NEW TIP
Super simple one-pot dish.
Took the time to get a deep colour on the sausages, then instead of wiping pot clean I sauté the vegetable in the oil. Final step, I used a tin of Borlotti beans (they were in the cupboard) instead of Butter beans, any large sized bean will do IMHO.
Just delicious
I used Sparkling cider instead of dry but it didn't take away from the flavour at all, and I may have drunk the rest of the bottle of cider too!
Garlic and Extra Cider
5 cloves of garlic and an extra slug of cider. Perfect!!
Comfort food!
Add some mashed potato for that extra comfort food feel!
Super tasty a new favourite
I used 200ml of apple juice instead of the cider and 200ml of stock. I made this recipe in my slow cooker and was lovely when I finished work. I am not keen butter beans, so swapped for more vegetables
Personally when I do them again I would put the sausages in the oven as I like them brown all around, and I cut them in half so the sauce soaked in a bit more
Made 4 generous portions
I used 300ml stock and found there was still too much gravy, next time (there will definitely be a next time) will try it with 200ml and a little more mustard. That said it was very tasty 😋
Personal Preference
Next time we will add the butter beans slightly earlier also think it would be nice with parsnip in it too.
Very tasty & filling.
Found the sauce quite runny so when we have it again will try less stock.
