NEW Aldi Super 6 Fruit and Veg Selection
We love Aldi’s Super 6 selection of fresh fruit and veggies! Each fortnight they choose six different items for a special offer where you can pick them up for much less than the normal price.
Here’s our rundown of this week’s NEW Super 6 selection:
Green Beans – 31 calories per 100g
High in calcium and vitamin K, green beans are full of nutrients that help your bones stay strong and healthy. Whether you chop them and cook them into a dish, or serve them as a simple side, they add crunch, flavour and a lovely splash of green to your plate.
Boil them, steam them, roast them – or why not try popping them in your air fryer? It might not be the most obvious way to cook your veggies, but once you’ve tried these Air Fryer Crispy Green Beans, you’ll never look back.
White Seedless Grapes – 69 calories per 100g
When the craving for something sweet kicks in, we love to snack on grapes. They’re naturally sweet and so much better for you than processed snack bars. Pop some into a tupperware container and pack them up to keep those afternoon sugar cravings at bay!
Did you know you can also use grapes in salads? It might seem strange but it works so well! This fruity Chicken Waldorf Salad uses apples and grapes to create a light and refreshing dish that’s perfect for lunch.
Blueberries – 57 calories per 100g
There’s a good reason blueberries are considered a superfood; they’re low in calories and high in nutritional value! Bursting with vitamin C and loaded with antioxidants, they’re a sweet little snack with big health benefits.
Get your morning off to the best possible start by including a handful of blueberries in your breakfast. You can’t go wrong with these Lemon and Blueberry Baked Oats – they’ll fill you up and stop you getting peckish before lunchtime.
Asparagus Tips – 25 calories per 100g
Low in calories and full of nutrients, asparagus is a super versatile veggie that adds flavour and crunch to your meals. It has a subtle taste and can be cooked in a variety of ways – steam it, grill it or roast it to bring out the nutty flavour.
We love it in this Cajun Baked Cod with Asparagus and Cherry Tomatoes recipe. You bake the ingredients together in a foil parcel so all the flavours mix and mingle. It’s a lovely light lunch or dinner, or you can enjoy it with a jacket potato when you fancy something more hearty.
Piccolo Tomatoes – 20 calories per 100g
Vibrant in colour and rich in flavour, this variety of cherry tomato is a little taste of summer. Pop one in your mouth for a burst of fresh, juicy sweetness – they’re delicious for snacking or using in salads.
When the flavour is this good, we like to keep the recipes really simple. This Black Pepper and Parmesan Spaghetti with Garlic and Thyme Tomatoes really makes the most of all its ingredients, balancing sweet, peppery, herby flavours with that salty Parmesan. Perfection!
Aubergine – 25 calories per 100g
Did you know that aubergines are a fruit? They have a really subtle, mild taste and a meaty texture that’s good at soaking up other flavours. A staple of vegetarian cooking, they’re great for bulking out dishes to make them really filling yet low in calories.
Chop an aubergine into cubes and roast it alongside some other Mediterranean vegetables to make this irresistible Roasted Vegetable Risotto. It’s hearty and comforting yet light enough for a sunny day.
