Do you need any special ingredients to make this BLT Pasta Salad?

You don’t need anything special to make this dish, but we like to serve it in a large bowl on the table or at a barbecue. Fusilli pasta you would find in most supermarkets works perfectly for this recipe and is easier to get your hands on!

Hints & Tips

Below we added some of our communities most common hints and tips. We hope you find them useful.

All-purpose seasoning is a general seasoning that can be used to enhance flavours in most dishes. It is usually found in the supermarket spice aisle.

Used red pepper instead of tomatoes
Swapped the tomatoes for red pepper and left out the Quark as I didn't have any. Added a squeeze of lemon juice to the yogurt along with the seasoning - gorgeous!
New favourite lunch
Loved this recipe. I did substitute lettuce for thinly sliced cucumber as I didn't have lettuce and I used cream cheese, not quark due to preference but was still lovely, even the husband Loved it
I used gluten free pasta to adapt to my diet, lovely dish for a hot hot day !
1
Use extra light mayo instead!
I didn't have all the ingredients needed for the sauce so I just used extra light mayonnaise instead- tasted just as good!

Could I use just quark & leave out the yogurt? TIA

Hi Katie, the quark and yogurt are what give this BLT Pasta Salad its creamy sauce however you could increase the quark and alter the calories accordingly. Hope that helps!

So yummy! I made a huge batch for lunches during the week. I added chickpeas because I’m low on iron, tastes wonderful. When I’m feeling particularly naughty I garnish with my HeA cheese portion 🙂
Thanks pinchofnom

Ideally I wanted to make this tonight.
TIA

    Hi Lauren!

You could replace the seasoning with:

    1/2 tsp Garlic Granules
    1/2 tsp Onion Granules
    1/2 tsp Sweet Paprika
    Salt & Pepper to taste

    Hope that helps! 🙂

Hi Carol. You could try using fat free Greek yogurt or light mayonnaise instead of quark. This may change the nutritional values if they are important to you.

Do you know roughly how much dry pasta you would need? I don’t want to end up cooking far more than the 500g needed.

Reply

    Emma TMonday 11th September 2017

    Hi Andrea,

You would need around 250g of dried pasta, maybe a little less, to make 500g cooked pasta.

Hi is there anything I could replace the quark with as I’m lactose intolerant an am unaware of an alternative. Would you just increase the yogurt (dairy free of course) to replace it?

Reply

    KateFriday 10th February 2017

    Hi Karla,
Yes you can just increase the amount of yogurt. You could try the new plain Alpro Go On one which seems quite suited for cooking purposes
