Use smoked paprika and smoked bacon medallions as they will give the stew a good smoky flavour.

NEW TIP
Oh my - So delicious
I did the slow cooker version. I added spinach as I had no Kale and also added some sliced green beans for a bit of extra veg. I had a small portion of boiled rice to go with it.
Try Drumstick Fillets
This is a lovely recipe and I have recently discovered drumstick fillets, over thighs. They are cheaper than thighs and taste very similar and don’t dry out in the slow cooker.
Next time (there will definitely be a next time) I'll add spinach instead of kale, and throw some mushrooms in too.
