It’s the last Friday of July and we’re back with your Weekly Pinch of Shopping!
We’ve found lots more slimming friendly goodies this week, including plenty of healthy swaps to keep your meals interesting.
This includes handy bits like Birds Eye Chargrills Fish Fillets with Sundried Tomato & Basil which only take four minutes to cook, and are just 89 calories each.
Or, if you’re looking for snack inspiration, we’ve found some irresistible mini chocolate chip cookies to enjoy with a cup of tea – and the whole bag is less than 100 calories.
We’ve also included a roundup of this week’s brand new Super 6. Every fortnight Aldi discounts a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables so we’re giving you the rundown, along with some inspiration on how to make the most of them.

We love Aldi’s Super 6 selection of fresh fruit and veggies. Each fortnight they choose six different items for a special offer where you can pick them up for much less than the normal price.
Here’s our rundown of this fortnight’s selection and some meal inspiration to help you make the most of the Super 6!
British Regal Vine Tomatoes – 17 calories per 100g
Sweeter than your average salad tomato, vine tomatoes are delicious when roasted.
They’re ideal for Mediterranean inspired dishes and can be served on the side, or used as part of a main dish.
Try using them in our Baked Feta and Tomatoes recipe instead of normal cherry tomatoes for a richer, sweeter flavour.
British Iceberg Lettuce – 14 calories per 100g
Crisp, crunchy iceberg lettuce is a summer staple! Use it to create refreshing side salads or add it into burgers and sandwiches to add extra texture.
We love to get creative with iceberg lettuce and use the leaves instead of bread.
This cuts down the calories, helping you make slimming friendly dishes like our Pork Carnitas with Pineapple and Mango Salsa.
British Cherries – 50 calories per 100g
Plump, juicy cherries are such a treat. They’re much more affordable when they’re in season like they are right now, and they’re super sweet and delicious.
Enjoy them as a snack on their own or chop them into fruit salads. We think scattering a few into our Bakewell Baked Oats would taste incredible, and help to bring out the cherry flavour from the jam.
British Regional Potatoes – 75 calories per 100g
It’s always handy to have some potatoes in the house – if you get stuck for dinner inspiration during the week, you’ll always be able to make a tasty recipe with some spuds!
Potatoes are so versatile. Roast them, boil them, pop them in the air fryer.
One of our favourite ways to enjoy them is to make these Chipotle Hasselback Potatoes – they get really crispy and have so much flavour.
British Broccoli – 35 calories per 100g
Green vegetables like broccoli are so good for you. Packed with fibre and lots of vitamins, it’s also low in calories and a great way to bulk out meals to help them stay slimming friendly.
A portion of steamed broccoli on the side of your meal will help you on your way to your five a day.
If you have fussy eaters you could even disguise it in a recipe like these Broccoli and Sweetcorn Fritters which makes a delicious snack or side dish.
British Celery – 14 calories per 100g
Celery gets a bad reputation but it’s a slimming friendly super food! It’s super low in calories so you can eat lots of it, making it an ideal snack when you’re trying to lose weight.
It’s not that exciting on its own but you can serve it with hummus or other dips to add some flavour. We love it in this Chicken Waldorf Salad. It adds such a good crunch!
